Kali Linux 2022.2 has been officially released. Kali Linux is a free, open source, Debian based Linux distribution aimed at advanced Penetration Testing and Security Auditing. It was formerly known as BackTrack Linux. Kali Linux provides more than 600 tools for Penetration Testing, Security Research, Computer Forensics and Reverse Engineering. Kali Linux is a Linux distribution specifically geared towards professional penetration testers and security specialists.

Kali Linux is supported on amd64 (x86_64/64-bit) and i386 (x86/32-bit) platforms. Kali Linux runs smoothly on systems with 1 Ghz processor and 2 GB RAM. However, if you want to run resource intensive applications or simultaneous applications at least provision 8 GB of RAM in your PC. At least 20 GB of Disk Space is required for installation of Kali Linux. You can install Kali Linux as a basic secure shell with no desktop, however, a resolution of 1024 X 768 is recommended for great visual experience if using Kali in GUI mode.

On Kali Linux, you can choose the desktop environment you like among Xfce, GNOME and KDE. Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for UNIX-like operating systems. It aims to be fast and low on system resources, while still being visually appealing and user friendly. GNOME has been designed to make it simple and easy to use. The Activities Overview is an easy way to access all your basic tasks.  KDE is highly customizable desktop environment. It allows users to change the appearance as per their convenience. They can change color scheme, move the panel, fonts, etc. for making it adaptable to provide best user experience.
