This article describes the process of downloading AlmaLinux Operating System ISO file. For installing AlmaLinux on any system you will need to download AlmaLinux OS ISO file. To download AlmaLinux OS ISO file follow the below procedure.
On any operating system, open a browser and navigate to AlmaLinux OS official website. Click on Download button.
The ISO mirrors page will display links to download AlmaLinux ISO files with available architectures and versions. Click on the link resembling your servers architecture. For e.g. x86_64 version 8.5. Download the ISO file for stable version only if you want to install it to use as a server machine. You should download Beta version file only if you want to test new unstable releases of the OS.
Click on one of the recommended links for download mirror near your geographical location for faster download.
On the mirror image download page, you will see a list of files. It is advisable to download the DVD ISO file instead of other ISO files such as minimal.iso or boot.iso. As these will need internet connectivity during installation. DVD ISO file once downloaded will contain all the packages required for installation. If you do not have a 16 GB USB pen drive then you may choose to download boot or minimal ISO file. However, its recommended to download AlamLinux DVD ISO file.
Save the file to your computer.
Wait for the download to complete. Default downloading location may be user’s Download folder. However, you can save it anywhere on your disk you want. Once download is complete, the AlmaLinux DVD ISO file of approximately 9.9 GB will be available at download location.
You should now proceed with verification of AlmaLinux ISO file before using the downloaded file for any purpose to ensure its integrity and authenticity.
