Bootable Windows DVD on Windows System

Windows is the most used Operating System due to its user friendliness. Latest version of Windows Operating System can be installed by creating a bootable Windows DVD. A bootable Windows DVD can be created on  an existing Windows System by following 04 the (four) easy steps mentioned below:

a.      Download Windows 10 Media creation Tool

Open a web browser and search for ‘Windows 10’ on any search engine. From the search engine results, navigate to Microsoft’s Software Download Page or click here to download Windows 10 ISO File. From the download page, download the tool to create Windows 10 Installation Media. The executable file of the media creation tool can be saved to the computer for later use. Once the download is complete close the browser.

b.      Run the Windows 10 Media creation Tool

Go to the Download Location and execute the downloaded Media Creation Tool Setup File. Close the File Explorer till the media creation tool is getting ready. Once, the media creation tool will be ready, it will display a license for use of the Windows 10. Accept the License to proceed further. The media creation tool will ask you what do you want to do and provide two options, the first one to “upgrade this PC now” and second one to “Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) for another media”. Choose the second option to create installation media and click on ‘Next’ to proceed further.

The tool will next provide you the options for selecting language, architecture, and edition. The recommended options as per the PC on which you have executed the tool would be automatically selected. In case, the selected options are not suitable for the computer on which Windows 10 is planned to be installed, the options could be changed by un-checking the check box labelled “Use the recommended options for this PC” provided below these options. After un-checking the check-box, change Language, Edition or Architecture as per configuration and requirements of the computer on which Windows 10 would be installed. The architecture is mostly 64-bit nowadays in modern computers, however, in case of low configuration computers, it could be 32-bit. Check system info for the information of the computer’s architecture. Choose the suitable options and click ‘Next’ to continue.

c.      Create Windows 10 ISO file to use it to make Bootable Windows DVD

The tool will next provide the options for choosing the media type to be used. First would be “USB flash drive” and second will be “ISO file”. Select the second option “ISO file” and click on ‘Next’ to continue. Save the ISO file on your computer. The default name of the file would be “Windows.iso”, the primary name could be changed as per choice, however, the extension should remain to be “.iso”.

On clicking “Save”, the File download will begin, wait for the download to finish. Once downloaded, the files would be verified. Wait for the verification to finish. Upon successful verification of the downloaded files, the ISO file will be created and saved to chosen download location. Wait till the file creation is in process. Once the Windows 10 ISO file is successfully created in download location and the process is complete click on ‘Finish’ to end the process. The media tool will clean up the setup temporary files and close.

d.      Burn ISO to make Bootable Windows DVD

Insert a Blank DVD or a Re-Writable DVD in the DVD Writer Drive attached to the computer. Go to the Windows 10 ISO file download location, right click on the downloaded ISO File and select ‘Burn Disk Image’ from the context menu. The built in Windows Disc Image Burner will open. The default disk burner will be selected, if there are multiple burners or DVD writers in the computer, the one to be used can be selected from the drop-down box.

As the Disk burning process is error prone, check the check-box with label “Verify Disk after burning” to ensure the DVD disk is error free after burning. Click on ‘Burn’ to proceed.

An empty disk will start burning, however, a non-empty re-writable disk will be erased first. Ensure that there is no important data on the disk before erasing the disk as the same will be un-recoverable.

The Disk burning process would start after erasing the disk, wait for the process to finish. After burning, the disk verification would start for checking errors, wait for the process to finish. If there are errors on the disk, the disk burner will display the errors. Use another disk and burn the ISO file again in case of error. In case of successful completion, press ‘Close’. The Disk will be automatically ejected on pressing ‘Close’. Re-insert the disk to check the contents, the windows 10 setup files would be visible on the DVD drive in File explorer.

The Windows 10 Bootable DVD disk would be now ready for use on any Computer to install Windows 10 Operating System. Keep the DVD safe in a DVD case for future use.
